A Town in a City

I like downtown Calgary and of all the high rises, Bankers Hall is my favorite, especially during the Christmas season. The air of the central hall way between the West tower and the East tower is always filled with Starbucks coffee (it fits better here than inside the Forbidden City in Beijing), Sunterra bakery and fragrance from Itinerate Flowers. People passing, music floating, the Christmas tree is lightened. Work and urban life finds its balance.

Without getting out into the blistering coldness, people can finish some errands and re-connect with the friends during lunch and coffee breaks. Banks and post office occupies the main floor, while on the second floor Orchid Room makes Vietnamese-French cuisines and Compleat Cook displays many cook wears form all over the world. There are various fancy and unique stores around. Visiting TotaliTea is my favorite therapeutic trip to select a type of tea from an exotic county. Once in a while I would go to Lewis Chocolate and buy some little treats for my children on a Friday afternoon. Fast pace life gets slowed down here.

The second picture shows Dome Tower, which is one of the ugliest buildings around, but it looks quite nice with Leica lens.

Do you like the shark fins (my definition) among the buildings?

The last picture was taken from the 35th floor, where the showers rooms are and it has a great view of the Rockies.
