Three Chinese Scholars

Twenty years ago when ExploreMan arrived in Calgary with two other Chinese scholars, University of Calgary had an introduction session for them to the Crews Project members. The Crews director led three of them to the Earth Science computer room, where several dozens of professors and graduated students had waited there. Thinking this would be an important event, the three men dressed in white shirts, black suits, black pants and black ties. While they were in China, the British English teachers could not remember their names, so the teacher gave them English names respectively. The director started to introduce the first man, “This is Charlie Chan.” The first man stood up and waved his hands with respect, and profs and the students quieted down. “And this is Sam Sung." Some of the audience started to whisper, while the second man stood up and bowed to them. “And, this is Leon Lee!” The third man has not stood up and show his politeness yet, everyone burst into loud laughter. The three scholars were puzzled, looking at the rest of the people in jeans, shorts, t-shirts and sandals.

That was probably the only time my ExploreMan wearing black suit and tie in the past twenty years.
If you still frown right now, click the hyper-link attached to the three names.
